Pick a platform, upload your image, and download it at the right size. Instagram, Reels, YouTube thumbnail, Pinterest and more.

What is the Social Media Image Resizer?

The Social Media Image Resizer is a free online tool that resizes any image to the right size for Instagram posts, Reels, YouTube thumbnails, Pinterest pins, Facebook and LinkedIn. Pick a platform, upload your image, choose fill or fit and download it. It is made for designers and creators, and it runs in your browser.

PlatformSize (px)Ratio

Why size matters

Every platform crops images in its own way. Post a landscape render on Instagram and the sides get cut. Post a square on Pinterest and it gets lost in the feed. Using the right size from the start keeps your work looking sharp.

Best sizes for designers and 3D artists

For Instagram, portrait 4:5 takes more space in the feed than a square, so it gets more attention. For Reels and Shorts, 9:16 is the only size that fills the screen. Pinterest likes tall 2:3 pins.

Fill or fit?

Fill crops the edges so the image covers the whole frame. Fit keeps the full image and adds a background color around it. Use Fit for renders where nothing should be cut, like a full room or a product.

Questions people ask

What is the best Instagram post size?

1080 x 1350 px (4:5 portrait). It shows bigger in the feed than a square post.

What size is a YouTube thumbnail?

1280 x 720 px, 16:9 ratio, under 2 MB.

Is the image uploaded anywhere?

No. Resizing happens in your browser and the file stays on your device.

How to use this tool

  1. Under Size, pick the platform, for example Instagram post (portrait), YouTube thumbnail or Pinterest pin.
  2. Under Fit, choose Fill to crop the edges, or Fit to keep the whole image and add a background.
  3. If you chose Fit, pick a Background color.
  4. Under Image, choose your file. The preview updates right away.
  5. Press Download PNG. The file is saved with its size in the name, like resized-1080×1350.png.

The table on this page lists every size the tool supports, so you can also use it as a quick size guide.

When to use it

Use it before you post a render, a product photo or a design on social media. It is most useful when one image needs to go to several platforms: make a 4:5 version for Instagram, a 9:16 version for Reels and Shorts, and a 2:3 version for Pinterest, all from the same file.

Tip: keep important text and faces away from the edges. Many apps cover the top and bottom of Stories and Reels with buttons and captions.

More questions

Will resizing make my image blurry?

Making an image bigger than its original size can soften it. Start with the largest version of your image you have.

Why PNG and not JPG?

PNG keeps full quality. If a platform has a file size limit, you can convert it to JPG afterwards.

Which fit should I use for a render?

Use Fit when nothing should be cut, like a full room or a product. Use Fill when the edges are not important.

Can I resize many images at once?

Not yet. It works on one image at a time. Pick the size, add the image and download, then repeat.
